QR-code sign-in is the app’s first screen. The app does NOT ask for a username and
password: you pair it with an instance by scanning a one-time QR code. The device then gets
its own key and shows up in the instance’s list of paired clients.
What it is for
QR pairing keeps passwords off the device: the phone gets a key bound to the staff member and
the instance, not shared credentials. Lose the phone and you revoke that one key without
touching anyone else.
How to sign in
In the Web UI open the device-pairing section and show the QR code
(it is one-time and lives for a limited window).
In the app’s sign-in screen tap “Scan QR” and point the camera at the code.
The app exchanges the code for its own key, stores the instance address and opens the
Chat list.
If something is wrong
Code won’t scan — refresh the QR in the Web UI (the old one may have expired) and retry.
No camera access — grant the app camera permission in the device settings.
Address/network error — check the instance is reachable from the device (the same
address as the Web UI) and that the os-client service is installed and running.
